Father, I will tell the nations about your splendor and miraculous deeds! A strong nation will glorify you; the towns of powerful nations will fear you. For you are king and rule over the nations. Your city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because your glory lights it up, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light and the kings of the earth will bring their grandeur into it. Its gates will never be closed during the day (and there will be no night there). They will bring the grandeur and the wealth of the nations into it. For all the gods of the nations are worthless, but you made the heavens. Who can understand the spreading of the clouds, the thunderings of your pavilion? I see how you scatter your lightning about you; you cover the depths of the sea. It is by these that you judge the nations and supply food in abundance. For you will look down from your sanctuary above; from heaven you will look toward earth, in order to hear the painful cries of the prisoners, and to set free those condemned to die, so they may proclaim the name of the Lord in Zion, and praise him in Jerusalem, when the nations gather together, and the kingdoms pay tribute to you. Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven! He does whatever he pleases! It is in that God's name that I pray, Amen.
